Urban Sessions Coming to Shannon Lee Photography

I love that spring is around the corner. As a family photographer, these Long Island winters can sometimes feel like they last forever. These Urban sessions are great for family photo sessions, of a portrait session for those pre-teens and teens who want something different. They will be captured in a local downtown area that is local to my photography studio. There is several different looks around town, including the fun red phone booths!

These sessions will take place May through June 2017. There are limited spots and will be booked first come first serve basis. Included in the session is a what to wear guide as well as a personalized reveal and ordering night. I look forward to capturing you and your family. Spring is almost here!

Some Fun at Wertheim, Long Island Wildlife Refuge | Photography Session

I had such an amazing time capturing this bright young lady's portrait. This is Kathryn, and she loves this Wildlife Refuge located in Shirley, NY. One of Long Island's great hidden treasures.

Such a beautiful park. Located On Long Island, NY

When she isn't busy being a teenager, this young lady is a camp counselor and teaches science to youngsters. See loves the Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge. She has been a camper there since she was in elementary school and now enjoys being a counselor. She said you can often see fox and deer in the park.

We had so much fun during our shoot, laughing and getting to know each other. We share the same favorite color, which is blue.

She loves this trail and insisted she had a photo on it.  Long Island | Shannon Lee Photography

We made sure to schedule her photo shoot during the best time for light, the golden hour. Its when we get this dreamy light before the sun sets over Long Island, NY.

Kathryn and her mom came in about a week after their session and we designed a beautiful heirloom photo album with the portraits from this shoot. Kathryn picked out her favorite which is one of her jumping up in the air and enjoying herself during the shoot.

Summer Time Fun on Long Island in the Sunflowers Photography Session

I had so much fun celebrating with these two little girls as they were about to turn 3 yrs old. We  frolicked and played in the beautiful sunflower field here on Long Island. As a photographer here on Long Island, I have the pleasure of picking beautiful spots to photograph my clients. This is one of my favorite spots. I have another special sunflower field I will also be shooting in for next summer as well.

As you can imagine, two little (almost) 3 year old twins is a lot to wrangle in, but we had a great time.

Long Island Family Photography Portrait Session

I just adore this family. I have come to know their family over the past two years. They have done Christmas photos, Fall photos, Marketing photos, and now Spring photos with me. I love taking them to new locations on Long Island and capturing their portraits. They already planned their summer beach photo session with me for next year. I love compliments about my work, and the best kind is repeat clients and referrals.

I love how their outfits coordinate. They always work with me on wardrobe suggestions I give them and because of that they always stand out and look amazing in their pictures.

Can you stand how cute this brother and sister duo is?

Three Generation Family Photography Session Long Island, NY

As a family photographer on Long Island, I often have the pleasure of working with some amazing families. I get to know them and really connect with them. This session is near and dear to my heart. I met Jocelyn and her beautiful daughter when she was first born. We did a lifestyle newborn photography session at her home. I have also photographed her family for Christmas photos, and also her daughter's 1st birthday party.

Jocelyn was very excited when I advertised for Mommy and ME photography sessions. She said she just had to do them with her mother and her daughter. She said that in their family, traditions are very important. She mentioned how her mother and her had quite a few, and that she wanted to pass that on to her daughter.  I was elated when she contacted me to set up the family photo session. I love when my clients come back again and again.

Urban Shoot With My Teen

As a Long Island family photographer, I  have been wanting to do an urban type of photo-shoot for a while now; ever since I was downtown and seen the little red cellphone booths that resemble those red London phone booths we often see on the television.  I took the opportunity to do such a shoot with my teen daughter this past weekend. She had just got a new haircut at Hollywood Blvd in Shirley,  and was in love with it. Her confidence was soaring and I wanted to capture it.

It was a bit chilly out, but the light from the sun was so beautiful. You know how the last days of Long Island's winters can be just before spring rolls in. We managed to get some great shots in before stopping to have a sushi roll together and to warm up.

The sushi was amazing and of course my stepdaughter had to have her Japanese soda, so it came along with us for some more photos. She desires to visit Japan one day so she can have tea in a tea house with cats and explore all that Japan has to offer.

We were starting to get chilly so we headed back to the car. I was a bit disappointed because I couldn't find the red phone booths that I had seen downtown before. But I had managed to find a cool alley with a nice brick wall to capture some images before going. She laughed at me as I begged for just one more photo.

Just as we are getting into the car, I see it, the red phone booth! She looks at me with a face that says it all, she is ready to go home. I look at her pleadingly, hoping I could convince her. She agrees, but only if we drive over to the phone booth, done.
